Why Political Humor
They’re everywhere, they’re everywhere and believe it or not it’s probably a good thing. Those who serve us up a dose of political humor have an agenda, a reason and won’t stop until the day after election – oh, they may not even come up for air then. It all depends on the climate of our government and who’s on first!
We need these men and women who keep the humor rolling nightly, in cartoons or on videos. They just might be some of our most important campaigners for the right presidential candidate, whomever that maybe…
In the meantime, they’re relentlessly doing their job and getting results. Some make faces and get mad when a little bit of political humor is repeated about their favorite presidential candidate. Others don’t have a favorite presidential candidate at this time and are sort of in a state of limbo, wondering who’s real and who’s not!
Stage left our political humorists appear, they love to get a response from their readers or viewing audience. It doesn’t really matter whether the response is laughter, anger or questions – their job is to get a response form us, which in turn stimulates our mind and getting us to do some research on our own.
They’re not telling us what presidential candidate is the right one – they’re just letting us know that 2008 presidential platforms and debates could stand some investigation. We will learn many things via their humor, if we but listen.
Most think comedians who use political humor are just out there for the laughs, but there’s much more to this than meets the eye. Like the originators Mark Twain and Will Rogers of political humor, these men and women have a message sent on the heals of humor.
Our political humorists will pretty much have each presidential candidate’ platform dissected before election day, if you follow them the rest of the year, 2008 will probably have more voters than any time in the history of our country.
